Encompass Physical Therapy is an outpatient orthopedic clinic located in Annapolis, Maryland.

Since 2004, our physical therapists have been providing the highest quality of care to prevent and rehabilitate movement disorders of individuals of all ages.

Our individualized, hands-on, functional manual therapy approach to improving the quality of life of our patients is our No. 1 priority.

We are committed to putting our patients at the center of our efforts as we consult with other health care professionals to coordinate a comprehensive plan for their health.

ELAINA MCNEILL, PT, CFMT

ELAINA MCNEILL, PT, CFMT

Elaina received her bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Maryland at Baltimore in 1987. In 2012, Elaina’s love for manual therapy led her to become a certified functional manual therapist  (CFMT) with the Institute of Physical Art (IPA). She continues to focus her attention on the evaluation and treatment of spine patients, use of manual techniques, spinal stabilization exercise, biomechanical foot and ankle evaluation, pelvic dysfunction evaluation and treatment.

Elaina is a co-owner/member of Encompass Physical Therapy, LLC. Her rehabilitation experience includes working with patients of varying ages in a variety of settings: acute care, home care, outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine.

Christine is a certified functional manual therapist (CFMT) and has been a physical therapist for more than 15 years. She is a co-owner/member of Encompass Physical Therapy, LLC. Previously she held the position of senior physical therapist at Kernan Physical Therapy at Shipley’s Choice.

Christine received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Wayne State University. She earned her bachelor’s of science in health sciences (magna cum laude) and a master’s of science in physical therapy from Howard University in 2001. She received her doctorate of science in physical therapy from the University of Maryland in 2011. Christine’s love for manual therapy led her to pursue a certification in functional manual therapy with the Institute of Physical Art in 2012. Her continuing education currently focuses on manual therapy techniques, visceral mobilization and dry needling.

Christine is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Orthopedic Section of the APTA and the Maryland Physical Therapy Association.

HANNA HINES, PT, Ph.D.

HANNA HINES, PT, PHD

Hanna is a native of Warsaw, Poland. She attended basic physical therapy courses and later received her doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Academy of Physical Education, where she later worked as a teacher and scientific researcher. During this time she published several articles in the field of physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Since 1993, she has worked as a physical therapist specializing in manual therapy, myofascial release, cranio-sacral therapy, vestibular rehabilitation and foot orthotics. Hanna also practiced in a sports clinic in Guildford, England, attending to high-quality tennis players and athletes.

Hanna joined the Encompass Physical Therapy team in 2011. She continues to take courses to improve her skills in functional manual therapy.

SAMANTHA BENNETT, PT, DPT

SAMANTHA BENNETT, PT, DPT

Sam attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where she graduated cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in biology. While pursuing her undergraduate studies, she was introduced to the field of physical therapy. She graduated from the University of Maryland at Baltimore with her doctorate of physical therapy in 2013. During her studies at UMB, Sam pursued an interest in international health care and education by traveling to Suriname, South America, where she helped lecture on evidence-based practice. She continues to stay involved with her alma mater through academia.

Sam’s passion for the field of physical therapy is anchored in the idea of a patient-centered approach, to treat the patient, and not just a diagnosis. No organization encapsulates this more than the Institute of Physical Art (IPA). Sam became involved with the IPA by participating in a 10-week clinical rotation at Encompass Physical Therapy. She currently is taking courses offered by the IPA in pursuit of her certification as a functional manual therapist.

NATHAN MAYBERRY, PT, DPT, CMTPT

NATHAN MAYBERRY, PT, DPT

Nathan is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s doctorate of physical therapy program. He began his career in physical therapy as an outpatient manual therapist while training under renowned clinic directors and mentors Christine Ro PT, DScPT, MPT, CFMT and Elaina McNeill, PT, CFMT. Working at Encompass Physical Therapy has provided Nathan the opportunity to collaborate alongside some of the most highly trained manual therapists in the country; he hopes to earn his certification in functional manual therapy. Nathan has taken significant postgraduate training in dry needling and functional mobilization through the Institute of Physical Art and Myopain Seminars, respectively.

Nathan’s athletic background in baseball, soccer, wrestling and cross-country has given him a great understanding of the stresses put on the body during athletic competition. His dedication to Functional Manual Therapy™ and his passion to provide integrated treatment to the various dynamic systems of the human body is critical to his approach. Outside of Encompass, Nathan enjoys playing sports, hiking, kayaking and traveling.

JESSICA BABICH, PT, DPT

Jessica received her B.S. in kinesiology from Michigan State University and her doctorate of physical therapy from Franklin Pierce University in Goodyear, Arizona. After graduation, Jessica worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic serving patients with various musculoskeletal, neural and viscerogenic dysfunction in the greater Phoenix area. Jessica’s passion for restoring functional efficiency and commitment to providing the highest-quality care for her patients led her to immerse herself in continuing education course work specifically with the Institute of Physical Art. Jessica immediately found value in this all-encompassing approach and decided to take her career to the next level by pursuing a functional manual therapy orthopedic residency with the Institute of Physical Art studying under the direction of Christine Ro and Elaina McNeill. Jessica will sit for her certification in functional manual therapy in August 2017.

Jessica believes in an active, collaborative relationship with her patients. Through goal setting and integrating functional manual therapy, looking at the body through a holistic lens, Jessica’s desire is to help her patients actualize their potential. It is her belief that in order to achieve optimal function, one must be actively involved in taking control of his or her health through the practice of healthy living. Jessica currently plans to bring heath and wellness programs to Encompass Physical Therapy in order to help educate and create a healthier lifestyle in the Annapolis community.

When she is not working with patients, Jessica can be found spending time with friends and family, engaging in physical fitness and dance classes, and perusing the latest research on nutrition and fitness at local coffee shops. She also enjoys traveling, live music and the outdoors.

LISA PURKINS, PTA, LMT

LISA PURKINS, PTA, LMT

Lisa received her associate of science degree in physical therapist assistant from Anne Arundel Communty College in 2013. In 2011, prior to studying to become a PTA, she received her massage therapist certificate from AACC.

After joining the Encompass PT team as a technician/aide in 2009, the dedicated staff and their commitment to the highest quality of care inspired Lisa to seek her PTA credential. She continues to hone her craft to help patients return to their healthy, active lifestyles. Lisa’s clinicial interests include manual therapy, especially soft tissue, neuromuscular re-education and strengthening.
