SAMANTHA BENNETT, PT, DPT, CMTPT

SAMANTHA BENNETT, PT, DPT, CMTPT

Samantha graduated from University of Maryland at Baltimore with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2013. Sam was drawn to the Functional Manual Therapy (FMT) approach while studying with Dr. Christine Ro at Encompass Physical Therapy in the fall of 2012. She was fascinated by the sometimes dramatic changes in patient function that she would see over just one treatment session and began her own journey studying FMT through the Institute Physical Art. Along with her development of advanced manual therapy skills, Sam has also studied trigger point dry needling through Myopain Seminars and received her CMTPT certification in January 2018.

When asked what patient population Sam likes to treat, the answer is all of them. Every patient presents with a different story and different goals which is what makes the physical therapy profession so exciting! In her spare time, Sam enjoys spending time outside with her husband and her daughter and looks forward to her next great backpacking adventure.

KATHERINE KLINE, PT, DPT

KATHERINE KLINE, PT, DPT

Kat, a lifelong Anne Arundel County resident, attended Severna Park High School and earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She knew from an early age her passion included a role in rehabilitation and preventative care. As a "retired" swimming and soccer athlete, she recognized the importance of working as a team with each patient to achieve individual specific goals. Her appreciation for this grew while working as a physical therapy technician where she observed a higher level of quality care provided at Encompass Physical Therapy. She developed a greater understanding of the benefits physical therapy could provide, not only in rehabilitative and preventative measures, but benefits that dove deeper into the complexities of healthcare assisting patients in improving their overall functional capacity. As a result of the higher level of care she observed at Encompass, she pursued her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Maryland School of Medicine Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science with the goal of returning to Encompass as a full-time therapist. While working towards earning her doctorate, she completed several part-time and full-time rotations designed to provide a broad spectrum of knowledge within the Maryland healthcare system including: University of Maryland Medical Center in the intensive care unit, University of Maryland Orthopaedics at Camden Yards, and Elite Physical Therapy in Baltimore, MD. While she knew her calling was outpatient physical therapy, she appreciated the importance of understanding how past care (hospitalizations, acute/ subacute rehab, and past trials of physical therapy) can contribute to each patient's presentation including recurring injuries, acute episodes of pain, and chronic pain.

In the future, Kat is considering continuing to build her knowledge in manual therapy towards earning her Functional Manual Therapy Certification (CFMT).

Extracurricular Activities: Member of Alpha Xi Delta at University of Maryland College Park; University of Maryland College Park School of Public Health Honor Society

Sports: "Retired" year-round soccer and swimming athlete. Additionally, Kat was a year-round and summer swim team coach.

KRISTY GREEN, PT, MPT

Kristy is the newest member of the Encompass group. She received a Bachelor's degree in General Science and a Certificate in Gerontology from Gannon University in Erie, PA in 2002. While working towards her undergraduate degree, she was a scholarship athlete on the women's basketball team, which made the Division II NCAA tournament 3 out of 4 years. Kristy graduated with a master's degree in physical therapy from Gannon University in 2004.

For the last seven years, Kristy worked as a contractor experiencing many different clinics and approaches to care. She joined Encompass in May 2017, which shares her passion for treating patients holistically, fixing the real problem, not the symptom. Along with manual therapy, which she is working towards her certification, Kristy also practices dry needling.

When she isn't working with patients, Kristy can be found hiking, swimming, learning to speak Latvian, and enjoying a nice glass of wine. Kristy also excels at Triathlon, having qualified for USA Nationals for the last six years.
